About Us
ACERT, the acronym for “Associates for Cardiology Education and Research in TamilNadu” has been formed by a group of like minded Cardiologists with the sole intention of performing high quality clinical researches in Cardiology by which reliable scientific data pertaining to our population can be generated. Though the idea was conceived by Dr.S.Shanmugasundaram, Former Professor of Cardiology, Stanley and Madras Medical Colleges, life was given to the concept by Dr.D.Prabakar, Consultant at Apollo Hospitals, Dr J.Ezhilan, consultant at Madras Medical Mission and Dr Ajit Mullasari, Director of Cardiology, Madras Medical Mission.
At present, Dr Shanmugasundaram, Dr Prabaakar and Dr Ezhilan happen to be the Founder Trustees with Dr Ajit Mullasari as the permanent Scientific Lead . The trust is established as a secular, educational, social and charitable non-political, non–profit organization for promoting wellness for the entire community, offering health care education to fellow health care providers, formulating and sponsoring clinical and epidemiological researches meaningful for our countrymen in the field of Cardiology and allied medical specialities, with the sole aim of benefiting the entire public irrespective of their caste and creed with the social emphasis for fostering communal harmony among all sections of the society.
The prime objective of the trust is to develope and establish a program to bring together the cardiologists, cardiac surgeons, physicians and allied healthcare providers working in both teaching and non teaching hospitals and private clinics, who are interested to work as a group with a sole objective of carrying out ethical researches, Cardiovascular Disease Registries and educational activities in such a way to present and publish the data in the appropriate scientific forums. However the trust has many other future plans like establishing, taking over or acquiring and maintaining and managing institutions, be it clinics, nursing homes, hospitals, nursing homes, laboratories, to provide education to medical personnel and the community at large and create awareness among the public of the noble purposes of this academic and research organization; Developing national disease management guidelines and working towards improving the adoption of such guidelines by the public and medical fraternity; Promoting and guiding research and development activities in the allied healthcare facilities; Acting as a channel for exchange of information, ideals, skills and experiences to the practising cardiologists and physicians by conducting meetings, seminars, training programmes and conferences; Disseminating knowledge among public in achieving healthy lifestyle and active participation in clinical trials and researches; Training and educating paramedical staff, doctors, nurses, administrators in delivering preventive, palliative and curative health care services; Establishing and running charitable dispensaries, hospital, clinics, medical camps and centers to give medical relief to the needy deprived people.
Dr Ezhilarasan M.D of Dr V.R. E Reasearch Laboratories is the Group Administrator cum Trustee of ACERT. Dr Alben Sigamani, Lead, Clinical Researches, Narayana Hridalaya, Bangaluru has consented to be the honorary Research Guide. Dr Sailatha Ravi of Medlish Communications is our Research and Academic Overseer.
